The EU has committed to the goal of reducing emissions by 20% by 2020. Even Japan’s green IT project plans to drop 130 million tons of CO2 by 2025. In the U.S., President Obama signed an Executive Order on Federal Sustainability that committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 28% by 2020.
Many industries around the world are affected by these regulations and must respond by improving their processes and technologies, increasing efficiency, and installing monitoring equipment to measure the flow of emissions. International companies, like those operating in the Oil and Gas Industry, are often affected by more than one nation’s regulations regarding the reduction or monitoring of emissions. The International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association and the American Petroleum Institute have recently joined forces to assist such companies in the process of trying to comply with all of these various regulations by creating a guide to institute reduction projects.
